The peel works by inhibiting the production of melanin, which causes pigmentation. It is safe and effective for all skin types and can be combined with other treatments, such as laser treatments, to achieve better results.

Women 20-50 years old are more likely to have melasma, a patchy brown, tan, or blue-grey discolouration of their facial skin. Melasma can occur with illness but is uncommon.
