What is liposculpture?

Liposculpture is a procedure not too different when compared to the more well known liposculpting. In liposculpting, as the name suggests, is a more advanced technique of liposuction that shifts the aim from purely removing masses of fat to focusing on the more complicated and aesthetically driven process of getting rid of and manipulating fat. The procedure has your ideal body in mind and requires the surgeon to have an appreciation of proportion and how the body fat and skin align to produce a pleasing look.

What is the difference between liposculpture and liposuction

Liposculpture places the emphasis on proportioning the body to make the figure aesthetically pleasing when compared to liposuction where the aim is to remove masses of fat from areas such as the abdomen to make the body smaller. The surgeon will take into account your body structure and proportions when removing fat to achieve the ideal figure with regards to size, shapes and symmetry. Liposculpture is not concerned with removing massive volumes of fat.

In fact, liposculpture does not remove fat for the sake of removing it. It aims to manipulate and shift the placement of the fat tissue to achieve the desired effect. Sometimes, removing too much fat creates unpleasant and abnormal looking grooves and contours. The surgeon will spend plenty of time assessing your figure and pre-planning the procedure so that he can have a clear vision of what he will do.

The best example of a situation where liposculpting is most appropriate is getting rid of stubborn love handles that would not go away even after being disciplined with exercise and eating.

What are the side effects of liposculpture?

The liposculpture procedure is safe in the hands of experienced practitioners. However, like every other procedure it has its own risks. Below are some of the possible complications:

  • Adverse reaction to anaesthetic agent
  • Severe bruising: this complication will resolve itself but severe bruising may take a longer time to heal itself
  • Irregular contours: the risk for this complication rises if a person’s skin is does not have good elasticity or the wound does not heal properly, the skin can appear wavy and bumpy
  • Infections: your surgeon will take great care to keep the operating environment, equipment and the staff involved clean and sterile to minimize the risk of infections

What else can liposculpture treatment be used for?

Aside from its cosmetic purpose of dealing with stubborn fats that will not go away on its own, there are medical conditions where liposculpture can be helpful in dealing with is effect.

  • Gynecomastia: this is the presence and accumulation of fat in breasts in men. Fat tissue that accumulate can be removed with this procedure.
  • Lipomas: they are benign (non-cancerous) growth of fatty tissue that is deposited underneath the skin. They feel like firm lumps and are commonly found in the shoulders, neck and back.
  • Lypodystrophy syndrome: this is a condition where there is an abnormal distribution of fatty tissues resulting in asymmetrical looks. Liposculpting can improve the appearance by dealing with the abnormal distribution.

When will I see the results of my liposculpture?

The results will be immediate. However, you must take care and follow the aftercare instructions carefully to ensure the wounds heal well, the person remains healthy and the results stay satisfactory. You must ensure you are well hydrated and take care not to undertake too much vigorous activity. Also, you will be given compression bandages and must be kept on for an appropriate amount of time. Your doctor will explain to you in detail during the discussion before going through the procedure.

How long will the procedure take?

Before the actual procedure itself starts, your doctor will take time to mark out and plan how he will carry out the liposculpture treatment. This might take up to half hour to prepare as you will be consulted as well regarding your preferences.

For liposculpture treatments, you will be given a local anesthetic injection so that the procedure will not be painful. The procedure will only start after the anesthetic is confirmed to be effective. The total time from start to finish will take a few hours depending on how much is being done.

After the treatment, you will be asked to rest between three to seven days depending on how you feel before getting back to your normal schedule of activities.

What results can I expect?

You can expect an improved appearance in your figure as the proportions are shifted to make you look good. Looking good also makes you feel good and this can motivate you to maintain your new figure by exercising and eating healthy. However, liposculpture and liposuction does not deal with cellulites.

Will I lose weight?

It is important to remember that there is no hard and fast way to solve the problem of obesity. The only effective and safe way to do this is through the tried-and-tested method of regular exercise and eating a healthy diet.

In the traditional liposuction, removing massive volumes of fat may lead to a degree of reduction in your body weight. In liposculpting where the focus is less on removing huge volumes, the loss of weight can be even less. However, it is important to remember for both liposuction and liposculpting that the procedures are not designed to stop the process of weight gain. You will still gain weight if habits that lead to fat accumulation is continued such as leading a sedentary life and eating a diet full of fatty and sugary food.

While we advocate looking good, it is equally important to feel good and practicing healthy habits is always advised for everyone who has undergone liposuction and liposculpting.

Liposculpture Reviews

I never thought I could cheat father time at the age of 45. I thought it was too late to achieve the body of my dreams. Now I wondered why I waited so long. It has worked wonders on defining my abs, arms and chest.

Exactly what I needed and wanted. The doctor was very thorough and precise with the details, not leaving anything out. He also went at length to explain what would happen after the treatment. I’m very happy that he followed up making me feel safe and cared for even after it is done. Very reassuring.
